Manager, Data Engineering

Company Background:

TekRek is assisting our client partner to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager, Data in Toronto.
Our client is a revenue generating growth stage business, with strong unit economics, working with
cutting edge technology within multi-product ecosystem.

Job Description:

• • As a business leader you will be responsible for developing a clear and concise strategy that
    focused on data reliability, growing the data platform, and improving the clarity of data across
    multiple business units.
  • Be a key leader in driving the data driven culture, using data to manage strategic business
    decisions and growth.
  • You will be responsible for managing, training, and assigning responsibilities to a growing team
    of data engineers.
  • Previous experience in a production environment with a detailed knowledge of coding integrity,
    reliability, and cost. Ideally, a deep technical knowledge using a modern data pipeline tools
    including Snowflake, dbt and Looker.

Requirements:

• • Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a similar discipline
  • Several years experience in data engineering position, ideally leading or mentoring mid-sized
    team
  • Strong understanding of Python programming language
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work experience in a consulting or in start-up environment
• Comes from a software engineering background with strong coding fundamentals.
